Meet Barry - courtesy post
Meet Barry!
He's a very sweet and loving 3-year-old Australian Shepherd. He's only known life as a beloved family pet and has never been in a shelter. His family had a baby recently, and his excitement around the movement of small children in the home has led his loving family to decide to look for a child-free home for Barry. Summit Dog Rescue agrees that a new home would be best for all involved.
Barry would really enjoy a home where he could be the center of attention. Ideally he'd hike a few miles a day and learn new fun stuff on a regular basis. Aussies are bred to learn and work, so a home open to meeting his mental enrichment needs and taking him out on fun adventures is what we're looking for.
Barry has only lived in the mountains, but he does to to doggie daycare in Boulder regularly and does well there.
His ideal home would be in the mountains or in a place where he could easily access trails on a regular basis. He's working on his loose leash walking skills and doing great.
This boy is super special and we love him. His adoption fee would be to his current guardians but would be nominal. We would require you sign up for training with one of our recommended fear-free trainers, so that Barry is successful in his forever home.
For more info and/or to apply to adopt Barry, send us an email at summitdogrescue@gmail.com, telling us a bit about yourself, your home environment and your lifestyle. A volunteer will get back to you shortly.

Disclaimer: The companion animal you are interested in is a courtesy post. Summit Dog Rescue often helps dogs and cats outside our organization to find their forever homes, and these are called "courtesy posts.” By courtesy posting pets from owners and other rescues, we offer our website (and sometimes email assistance) as a resouce to help their pet gain extra exposure. The pet’s bio comes directly from the owner or rescue, and we expect them to provide accurate information, to the best of their knowledge. Summit Dog Rescue in most cases has not met or evaluated these companion animals, so no information about a courtesy post dog or cat is guaranteed. We cannot accept responsibility for any injury or damages to any person or property caused by any courtesy post animals. Courtesy post pets are the sole responsibility of the owner and the adopter. In addition, SDR cannot take these pets in if the courtesy post adoption does not work out.
Also, although we occasionally might ask you to email us (if you’re interested in adopting a courtesy post pet), it’s just so we can help the owner or rescue connect with applicants. You’ll be adopting your new pet directly from the owner or the other rescue, not from Summit Dog Rescue. Please let us know if you’re comfortable with us sharing your information with the owner of the courtesy post pet.
